Animals in the Pasture

The parent nudges their calf forward towards me to scout the potential danger ahead, as we push and expect our youth to amend the mistakes we’ve made.

At this pasture, where cattle is marked for purchase, defilement, then slaughter. A prophecy spoken into my ear from the maw of a donkey. By photographing these cows, I wish to free them as if to challenge the repatriation of immigrants. In a state where it is typical to pass by cattle in wired constrained fields, penitentiary to standstill murky waters and the jab of the butt end of a whip for disobedience. Awaiting, like a blade of grass sits before caught in the blades of a mower and tossed onto the concrete.
